Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) is a gentle, light-touch massage technique designed to support the natural flow of lymphatic fluid throughout the body. Stimulating the lymphatic system can help reduce swelling, improve fluid balance, support the immune system, and promote relaxation.

MLD is commonly used to help with non-medical edema, post-surgical recovery, and general wellbeing. Its gentle, rhythmic movements make it a deeply relaxing treatment while encouraging the body’s natural healing processes.

This method is a great new skill to add to your existing qualifications or to use as a standalone therapy.

Qualification options:

  • Certificate of Attendance
    Issued by our training school.
    This option is ideal if you wish to complete the training without sitting the iTEC exam.
  • Certificate in Lymphatic Drainage  Massage:
    You can complete the course and take the iTEC examinations to gain the recognised iTEC qualification. iTEC exam fee: €130

Entry Requirements

To enrol on this qualification, you must hold a Holistic Massage qualification or an equivalent qualification.

Course Content

Lymphatic Drainage Massage 

Identify the location of the major lymph nodes and lymphatic pathways.

Understand the anatomy and physiology of the lymphatic system.

Apply the principles and techniques of Manual Lymphatic Drainage Massage.

Perform gentle, rhythmic MLD techniques to support lymphatic flow

Adapting the treatment to meet the client’s specific treatment needs.

Carry out a full Manual Lymphatic Drainage treatment safely and effectively.

Recognise indications, contraindications and necessary treatment modifications.
